Hi @duaneellissd, did you set the variable and then launch VS Code from that terminal? If you are using the terminal method then this is what you should be doing: Exit all VS Code instances |

In my case - we use an environment variable to specify the specific version of python to use.
The variable is the ABSOLUTE path tot he "python.exe" file on windows, or "python" (bin) on linux.
for example:
Why? It's along and troubled story, its what I live with.
In the "LAUNCH.JSON" file, I Have specified:
(I followed this link)
https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editor/variables-reference#_environment-variables
When I press CTRL_F5 - to run, it tells me PYTHON Is not configured correctly.
What is the proper syntax to make this work?
Please note: This path has spaces in its name {thank you visual studio}, ie: "c:\program files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Shared\Python39_64\pythonw.exe"
I need to use exactly that python, not the 5 other copies of python I have installed inside of other tools that come with their own private [vendor customized] version of Python. that is why we use an ENV variable for this purpose.
