My initial guess is that it's because the branch is deleted.
Can you set the default log level of GitHub Pull Request to trace (command: "Developer: Set Log Level", choose GitHub Pull Request, then use the double checkmark to set the default log level)
Then try to reproduce the issue again and share the output of GitHub Pull Reuqest?
