Saving Parameters not tied to instruments

Hello,

During an experiment, if I wanted to record data on some values that are not directly tied to an instrument would I have to create dummy parameters to be able to save them to the database? For example, if I had a capacitance that depends on two voltage parameters, and in the measurement loop I modify the voltage parameters, how could I record the resulting capacitance, or is this not recommended.
