Elementary questions

I have a Davis Vintage Pro2 weather station and its console died. As a replacement, I'm considering the Weatherlink Live 6100 data "logger". Initially I plan to sign up to weatherlink (the basic free option) and view my local conditions (every 15 minutes) on my iphone or from my mac mini m1 computer (through a browser).

I also would like to record conditions every few seconds (or, say, every minute) on my computer by directly interrogating the Weatherlink Live 6100 through, I guess, the v2 local API. I have the following questions (with my current guesses at answers):

1. Can I get the current conditions through my local network? (yes?)
2. Can I get minute-by-minute data for the last 24 hours (or historically as stored on the 6100) through my local network? (no?)

Both of your guesses are correct.

1. Yes, the current conditions can be queried on the local network. That's exactly what this driver does.
2. The past conditions are only available from the Weatherlink.com cloud which would require a paid subscription. I think there are other WeeWX drivers available if you want to use this method.

However, if you are planning on leaving WeeWX running continuously using only method #1 is fine - no paid subscription required.
