Wake from sleep is startling

When the browser wakes from sleep we correctly hide the cube as it makes very fast twists behind the scene.
But once caught up, the cube pops out of nowhere with a startle.
Should do one or both of the following:

• Gradually increase the opacity from zero to 100.
• Gradually increase the size from a spec to normal size.
