vscode-java-test can't find the test file

In one of my projects, which is a very large project, dap/vscode-java-test can't find the test in the open buffer that I am trying to execute. I get a "Class not found" error. Things work in other projects. The size of this project is the only difference I can think of between them. Curious if anyone has run into this or has an idea why it might be happening?

Looks like running mvn clean will get things to work. I seem to need to do this when ever I reopen a project. I wish I understood more of the java ecosystem/build process/etc!
