delay loading of contributor icons until interacted with

Metacpan tries to load all of the icons of people in the "and 99 contributors" list as soon as the page is loaded instead of waiting until the user has clicked the "show them" link. Any chance this could be made to be delayed?

Asking because in my environment the connections it makes to gravatar are rather slow and block interaction until they're all resolved.
