Brent's check in
Last week went okay, but I spent more time on logistics, PR review, issues etc. than coding. I did manage to get some SQL-level grouping work done.
I'm going to get into the interval and money types first, and remain available to review any filtering PRs. Depending on how and when we decide to integrate grouping functions into the function framework associated with @dmos62 's filtering work, I'll either start on complete PRs for grouping or continue doing the SQL layer work for grouping. If the low-level stuff gets too far, I'll submit some PRs that will at least partially solve the issues so the code gets merged.
There's still a dependency between the grouping and filtering work, since they use some of the same files, and the grouping should probably use the function framework set up by the filtering PRs.
I recognize the value of putting the review in one section, but it would be nice to still be able to see area-specific PRs (this was possible in the previous iteration). I guess it's a balance between clutter and specificity.
It went pretty well. @pavish noted the main action items in the Matrix channel. Some takeaways on my mind: Mathesar has applicability in "sometimes available DBA" situations. The example use case was tracking disaster supplies. During non-disaster times, it's likely a DBA could manage the DB and set things up. However, in a disaster it might become necessary for a non-expert to both work with the data and potentially modify the data model. We've previously been mostly considering scenarios where the DB management would be through Mathesar except when some functionality wasn't available, using We came across a scenario where the ability to import a database scheme that enforces some data model would be quite useful. I.e., you would be able to distribute a data model for individual admins to import into their installation and use. It might be worth setting up a user flow for that. One specific action item for @kgodey (if you want / think it makes sense) is to set up a bridge between the new #proj-mathesar channel in the Code for Japan Slack and our Matrix server. |

Pavish's check in
It went alright. I wasn't focused much on writing code last week, most of my work went towards PR reviews, discussions, some meetings, the hackathon preparation etc.,
None
I think it's pretty valuable to have this section. I like that it gives a consise view of discussions requiring feedback along with being able to note down the non-development related work. I assume anyone outside the team checking out our weekly updates would only be interested in this section.
It went well. Most of the event was discussions and a number of interesting points came up as noted down on the matrix channel and @mathemancer has given a gist of the usecases. A short summary: Feature requests:

As I mentioned earlier, discussions with frontend team concerning new function API (#1001) are advancing steadily, but slowly.
Continue function API discussions; implement named parameters (function API); possibly implement generics; implement whatever else we decide on in the discussion (#1001); write the tests for filtering (and possibly dedicated tests for the function API).
I could use more input on the latest function API discussion. @mathemancer's input would be valuable, I think.
I like it. The "Feedback requested" section is useful. Overall, the weekly discussion format seems to be constantly improving. |

Ghislaine's Check In
Prototype exploration went well. I had time to think through different scenarios, experiment and I feel I'll move much faster with the rest of the design of the views functionality because of that.
I'm planning on working on issue #466. My goal is to start a review this week
None for now.
It's helpful as a summary. No specific thoughts about it. |

Good, making progress on the Views spec and should get it merged this week.
Nope
I think it's nicer to have it all in one place and see how much progress we're making. I'll split up "PRs merged" into backend/frontend PRs from next week. |

Mukesh's check in
It went well, was able to finally get the error handling PR's closer to completion.
None
I like it, makes it easier to understand the progress, I also like the fact that it is not split into backend, frontend as this gives a perspective on the whole.
