Expected behaviour

MATE Terminal cannot start if /home/user is unreadable. I know there is some sense to it because user settings cannot be read, but terminal emulator should probably be able to start with some failsafe defaults.

Actual behaviour

MATE Terminal never starts in case of unreadable home folder.

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

  1. sudo chmod o-rwx /home during live session (for example, there are other ways this could happen)
  2. try starting MATE Terminal

MATE general version

1.26.0
