How to run cron permenantly

How can we set magento cron should run permenantly when the docker is up?

I tried bin/cron start command, but it is not filling the cron_schedule table that means cron is not working . bin/cron status says "Cron is running" though.

This is solved. Sorry, I wasn't aware that we needed to run the cron:install command before cron start command.
