visual mode does not work sometimes on microsoft tfs

Hi. I'm a new user and migrating from ff+vimperator due to the fact that it won't be working anymore pretty soon. so i don't know whether this is a pale moon specific issue or not. my team uses a tfs board. i navigated to a task on the board and wanted to selected some text to copy some text in a comment. so searched with / for this text and then pressed i to enter caret mode, then v to enter visual-caret mode and then pressed w to go to the next word. this does not work. however when i try the same on the help page it does.

I'm using pale moon 27.5.0 (64 bit) on windows 10 and the plugin is Pentadactyl 1.2 pre-pm-3
