Hi!

Maybe an export option can be added. To export a list (CSV would be fine) of all bookmarks, with title, speaker, summary and video link. Easy to store and maybe process (tag, sort, add comments, etc). So I can watch my favorites any time later.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion!

Currently, there are 2 options:

  • You can register an account with your email, so you can access your bookmarks from any device after you login.
  • You can share a list of bookmarks. It generates a link with all bookmarks that you can store and visit anytime later, from any device.

BTW, I don't know if you noticed, but Sojourner has a built-in video player, and you can watch the talks directly there, once they become available. Example: visit https://fosdem.sojourner.rocks/2024/event/3023, and click on Play icon next to the title.

With the above options available, do you still consider export practically useful?

Thank you for your reply :) Yes I am aware of these options.

Several reasons why I still prefer an export:

  • I want to organize my knowledge in one place, not across several apps / websites etc.
  • The sharing option only has the id's, not any details.
  • I prefer one list for both days. A list that I can tag, sort, add comments to, etc. Eventually probably even one list for all years.
  • Please do not feel offended about one: but relying on 'some' website (web app) for keeping and organizing my bookmarks long term does not feel safe enough. What if the code is abandoned or the url changes without me noticing, for example.
  • Maybe if I only use it as a backup, I would like an export option. It might seem strange, but in the end I might use your web app more if I can make regular local backups. [EDIT: maybe the sharing option might work for this case already, but that url will not work anymore if the app is broken or url changes]

Thanks for the info, I now understand better why do you need this. I'll see what I can do (hopefully before next edition).

I might add an 'export all my data' option, including all editions.
