They're documented in the developer guide as a key decision.

This should be cleaned up and moved to the user guide. Users need to know what these things are...

I don't see the word "status" in that "key decision". Are you referring to "version"?

This line could be updated to indicate it's talking about status:

  • Each version of an entity's metadata is [has a status of] active, deprecated, or disabled.

And then document what each of those mean or reference where it is documented. I haven't looked for it..
