So the way that this mame allows you to map the buttons is limiting. It will only map the first 14 buttons and that's it. So if you have a joystick setup with more than that many buttons, well let me explain my issue.

I am using this mame version to play street fighter games, like vs. marvel etc, which are 0.139 roms. I use retropie. So I have other emulators. when you map your joystick, you do it first in RetroPie. I have my buttons set up with the expected select and start button, but I have other buttons set up as 4 buttons over 3 buttons. This is because I use NeoGeo as well, and use the first 4 buttons when using neogeo. I use just the first 3 buttons and the 3 under them for street fighter and other 6 button fighting games. for verson 0.78 mame version, you can map many more buttons any way you want, so for .078 when I map general buttons, I don't even use the 4th button on the top row. this works well with everything else except 0.139.

The issue is it will only recognize the first 14 buttons at all. This means that if I want to do the same thing as I do with 0.78 it won't even recognize the 3 button on the bottom row.

can there be a few more buttons be added so that it will recognize that there is a 15th button so I can skip a button on my console?

Right now if I want to play for instance, Street Fighter vs Marvel, I have to remap my controls in retropie and skip that 4th button. that way there are only 14 buttons to recognize. I only need one more button, but it may be advantageous to add 2.
