Accessing USB Harddrive for ROMs Larger than 4GB

Hi All - I have a larger than 4GB ROM file (an Amiga hard drive file) that I can't save onto my SD as it is FAT32. I noticed when changing default path's in Retroarch I can see two additional volumes:

usb:
usb_storage:

Is it possible to store ROMs here? I have read that you can use FTPEverywhere to get files to the WiiU HDD - but wanted to ask the experts before I did anything that may break something :-)

A quick additional bit of info - if I use FTPUEverywhere I get a full list I presume of volumes:

sd
slccmpt01
storage_mlc
storage_odd_content
storage_odd_content2
storage_odd_tickets
storage_odd_updates
storage_slc
storage_usb
usb

Underneath storage_usb I can see two folders:

install
usr

Am I OK to create another folder here for ROMs?
