Hi,

We're using anonymous donations to Stripe, and previously we've seen that register as a transaction for the full amount followed by a refund for the fee registered on our account originating from Liberapays stripe account. On a few rare occasions we've seen transactions with no refund/no fee.

However, since September all of our transactions come in without a refund/fee, and we're having trouble finding what this means?

  • Are the transactions now without fee?
  • Is LiberaPay deducting the fee before sending the transaction now? (how can we then find out the fee?)
  • Has the fees not been billed by accident and will we receive an invoice for that later?

No and no.

Is LiberaPay deducting the fee before sending the transaction now?

Yes, for Stripe accounts in SEPA countries. This is one of the changes caused by #2374. It was made to prevent the postal addresses of recipients from being leaked by Stripe in the SEPA mandates.

(how can we then find out the fee?)

Right now you can't. Do you need to?

Ah, all right. It does mess up our accounting and financial reporting slightly since we're unable to report the actual amount we've received from donations. Since this is tax exempt income/expenses in our case I think it miiight be fine but I wouldn't be surprised if the tax authority is unhappy about this if we get an audit

What you're unable to report is exactly how much a donor paid. This isn't really new though, as grouped payments have always worked the way that all payments to SEPA countries now work.
