Is it possible to create general purpose app for days left (count down) for

Exam
interview
birthday
special event
(Calendar app don't support this in Homescreen of the launcher as widget)

If possible consider
Consider reducing dependencies
(eg:_ Sqllite )

For help, recommend such Application for Android
