Topic nodes descriptions are limited to 200 characters

Desired behavior

We'd like a to be able to input large texts in topic descriptions

Current behavior

Topic descriptions are limited to 200 characters

Value add

Many source web content do respond to the navigation to content logic but more often than not, those hold some information that can not be captured in a short 200c description

Possible tradeoffs

Beside storage, both in postgres and in the SQLite databases, kolibri UI might need to be adapted to account for possibly large descriptions on topics.

Hi @rgaudin - thanks for the thoughtful issue description.

One issue with allowing longer and longer descriptions is that, as you suggest, we start having to make decisions about how to truncate and limit its display on certain form factors.

Could I ask what the motivation is for longer descriptions? Are there certain kinds of descriptive text that you are seeking to add that might be classified as something other than an quick user facing description (examples might include, introductory text for framing a learning activity, instructions to a student for engaging with a learning activity, etc).

Any chance to have progress on this decision neeeded? We are "resurrecting" the work on libretexts channels and would like to know if there is any chance to include this "soonish"
