Hiding or folding parts of a line?

What do you think of the concept of hiding and/or folding parts of individual lines?

My current use case would be to hide certain JSON-fields of the log-output of my application. Or rather pick out which fields I want to keep.

I guess reformatting the output is somewhat outside the scope of a grep console, but stripping parts of lines is maybe reasonable?
