@bnickel, I would like to rename AMYServer to KIF.MockServer to make it clear that it is part of the KIF ecosystem and what its purpose is. Is this change okay with you?

Man, that would destroy the subtle Futurama branding of the product group. I'm generally fine with a rename, but:

  • I don't know how much rebranding would do. It already appears as kif-framework / AMYServer on github, and on CocoaPods, they show up in "Pods with summary KIF_" and "Pods using KIF_".
  • How strong an association are you looking for? KIF stands for Keep It Functional, implying functional testing. AMY supports that mission, but does LELA? I considered naming it "Keep It Pretty".
  • How would that work for actual in code? AMYServer is an actual class uses subclass. You would be want to rename the class KIFMockServer.

If you do a rename, you're going to want to deprecate the existing pods too.

Heh, I feel like a dork for missing the Futurama tie-in! Maybe I would have been clued in better if the names were not in all caps...and I watched Futurama more than three times :-)

For LELA, see my comment.

For AMYServer, do you consider this an extension of KIF, or a component that could be useful without KIF? That is, is AMYServer a KIF "plug-in"? If it is a plug-in, then I say we should rename it to KIF.MockServer, per my comments on LELA. It is independent, then I am less sure.

I would take on the task of updating the README, making appropriate code changes, deprecating the Pod, etc.

To be clear: these are your projects and the final decision is yours. And really, the name is not the crucial piece -- our strategic direction is what counts.

BTW: I liked the episodes of Futurama I saw a heck of a lot :-)
