reference management inside chapters folder

I have a question regarding references. So, when I add references inside .qmd files inside the Chapters folder, a references.bib file is created inside the Chapters folder. The problem is that this .bib file is not recognized by _quarto.yml. I am wondering if you have encountered this before and if you have any ideas to solve it.

I recommend exporting your references from your reference manager (e.g. I use Zotero) to one references.bib file in the top-level directory of your quarto project, and this single bib file is specified in the _quarto.yml file
