Anserini: Regressions for Wt10g
This page describes regressions for the TREC-9 Web Track and the TREC 2001 Web Track, which uses the Wt10g collection. The exact configurations for these regressions are stored in this YAML file. Note that this page is automatically generated from this template as part of Anserini's regression pipeline, so do not modify this page directly; modify the template instead.
Typical indexing command:
nohup sh target/appassembler/bin/IndexCollection -collection TrecwebCollection -input /path/to/wt10g \
-index lucene-index.wt10g.pos+docvectors+rawdocs -generator JsoupGenerator -threads 16 \
-storePositions -storeDocvectors -storeRawDocs >& log.wt10g.pos+docvectors+rawdocs &
The directory /path/to/wt10g/
should be the root directory of the Wt10g collection, containing a bunch of subdirectories, WTX001
to WTX104
.
For additional details, see explanation of common indexing options.
Topics and qrels are stored in src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/
, downloaded from NIST:
topics.adhoc.451-550.txt
: topics for the TREC-9 Web Track and the TREC 2001 Web Trackqrels.adhoc.451-550.txt
: qrels for the TREC-9 Web Track and the TREC 2001 Web Track
After indexing has completed, you should be able to perform retrieval as follows:
nohup target/appassembler/bin/SearchCollection -index lucene-index.wt10g.pos+docvectors+rawdocs \
-topicreader Trec -topics src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/topics.adhoc.451-550.txt \
-bm25 -output run.wt10g.bm25.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt &
nohup target/appassembler/bin/SearchCollection -index lucene-index.wt10g.pos+docvectors+rawdocs \
-topicreader Trec -topics src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/topics.adhoc.451-550.txt \
-bm25 -rm3 -output run.wt10g.bm25+rm3.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt &
nohup target/appassembler/bin/SearchCollection -index lucene-index.wt10g.pos+docvectors+rawdocs \
-topicreader Trec -topics src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/topics.adhoc.451-550.txt \
-bm25 -axiom -axiom.beta 0.1 -axiom.deterministic -rerankCutoff 20 -output run.wt10g.bm25+ax.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt &
nohup target/appassembler/bin/SearchCollection -index lucene-index.wt10g.pos+docvectors+rawdocs \
-topicreader Trec -topics src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/topics.adhoc.451-550.txt \
-qld -output run.wt10g.ql.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt &
nohup target/appassembler/bin/SearchCollection -index lucene-index.wt10g.pos+docvectors+rawdocs \
-topicreader Trec -topics src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/topics.adhoc.451-550.txt \
-qld -rm3 -output run.wt10g.ql+rm3.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt &
nohup target/appassembler/bin/SearchCollection -index lucene-index.wt10g.pos+docvectors+rawdocs \
-topicreader Trec -topics src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/topics.adhoc.451-550.txt \
-qld -axiom -axiom.beta 0.1 -axiom.deterministic -rerankCutoff 20 -output run.wt10g.ql+ax.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt &
Evaluation can be performed using trec_eval
:
eval/trec_eval.9.0.4/trec_eval -m map -m P.30 src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/qrels.adhoc.451-550.txt run.wt10g.bm25.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt
eval/trec_eval.9.0.4/trec_eval -m map -m P.30 src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/qrels.adhoc.451-550.txt run.wt10g.bm25+rm3.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt
eval/trec_eval.9.0.4/trec_eval -m map -m P.30 src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/qrels.adhoc.451-550.txt run.wt10g.bm25+ax.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt
eval/trec_eval.9.0.4/trec_eval -m map -m P.30 src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/qrels.adhoc.451-550.txt run.wt10g.ql.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt
eval/trec_eval.9.0.4/trec_eval -m map -m P.30 src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/qrels.adhoc.451-550.txt run.wt10g.ql+rm3.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt
eval/trec_eval.9.0.4/trec_eval -m map -m P.30 src/main/resources/topics-and-qrels/qrels.adhoc.451-550.txt run.wt10g.ql+ax.topics.adhoc.451-550.txt
With the above commands, you should be able to replicate the following results:
