This first one is due to the lakes layer appearing at zoom levels with roads etc. The lakes comes from natural earth and is quite simplified - only really good at lower zooms. If you zoom in, the water disappears but no new lake coastline is there.
https://re.city/#13.5/40.88404/-73.92457 is due to the river being a river at this place.
There's a quick work around procedure we can do to cut out the river upstream from the land polygon so it looks better.
We should import more accurate water bodies from osm to replace natural earth data. Ultimately we should have these coming from the editor.
