Regarding exited states of hydrogen

I found your code while searching for works done on solving the Saha equation for calculating the value of the different excited states of hydrogen.
I was reading your code and noticed that you are calculating the population densities of ionised hydrogen. Is it possible to calculate the population of different excited states of hydrogen?

Unfortunately, the code as it is now only supports ionization statistics and not excitation.

So, will it be possible to calculate the population of the excited states using the same concept (like the case of the ionization energy difference) of the excitation energy difference between the different excitation levels? I want to use that to define a solar atmosphere.

You might get some inspiration from the general setup of the code. However, this is a "pure" Saha equation solver, which is not a good approximation for the solar corona/atmosphere (see e.g. Fig. 1 of https://arxiv.org/pdf/2002.05821.pdf). The code was developed in the context of astroparticle physics at higher temperatures around the solar core. There is probably much more specific literature out there for solar atmospheric observations, but perhaps the discussion in atomic database literature, e.g. CHIANTI (https://www.mdpi.com/2218-2004/8/3/46) or PyAtomDB (https://www.mdpi.com/2218-2004/8/3/49), is a starting point.

Ohh, so the 2 level approximation cannot be implemented for the excitation state, let's say for the 6 levels of excitation of the Hydrogen atom.
