When choosing which to use, also check that services are running (for systemd systems) and warn if neither are.

Also use same service check for NetworkManager.

This varies by distribution as to what the systemd services do. Instead of testing for different distributions, I think it's best to just add some troubleshooting documentation in the User Guide.
