I don't know anything about how to do this, but would it be possible to include cytogenetic bands for variants? Maybe in the left panel, maybe just in the information cards. It's not uncommon for SVs to be tagged in this way and if it's the only information you have, it's hard to find the variants as it stands. For example, I'm trying to find a variant now and I just know that it's a 2q11 deletion.

I think this in theory should be possible. Especially because the app has the reference band information to load the ideograms. I'll just need to sort out how to grab the coordinates of those bands from the band information I have in some reasonable way.

I think there would just be a question about what exact format do we expect from the user and where would they provide it where that UI would make sense to them?

The user wouldn't need to supply it, we just display the band for each SV

Ah I see, sorry I thought you meant a lookup.

You just want an approximate band location of the SV is it typically based on the start of the SV?
