As good as open formats are, a single implementation will always be far from ideal.
Have you considered reaching out to the communities at Inkscape, Penpot etc?

Also, slightly off topic, is .free a really recognizable name, why not i.e. .luna or .fui (free ui) .lui (lunacy ui) etc

Hi, thanks for your questions!

We will not push anyone to support FREE format. Also we will not advertise it in the near future. We think that format is already pretty good, but still need some time to be well cooked. We need to verify that we like it as it is, did no mistakes, and don't want to make breaking changes in future. Format should be rock stable. And when it will - we will advertise it.

If anyone will be interested in support of FREE format - we are open for communication and extension of format.
There is a lot of things is not supported in a FREE format. For example - advanced prototyping(in progress), extensions metadata support is not yet considered, etc. Also we are open for criticism.

About name - we don't want to make format name to be highly related to Lunacy. Also we want format to have a nice, memorable, easy, best name. We hope that this will improve chances of getting format to be known, and supported in other apps and services.

About FOSDEM - Lunacy is not open source. Why? So, I think no.
