In some of programmes the total weights declared in the SA table are the result of direct observations. In other, they are reported by the fishermen. In other they are collected from logbooks or sales. Sometimes, these mix in a single programme, e.g., when data from original source are missing, it may be possible to get it from another source (when observers fail to record the landings of a certain species, they sometimes ask the skipper the value).
In the model there is a variable SAsampler. It is ambiguous what it applies to: is it who estimates the totalweight? or who took the sampleWeight? This needs to be clarified because we collect these 2 types of information in each row.
Irrespective of who took the sample, an indicator SAsourceTotalWeight with a code list like "Observer", "Logbooks", "Fishermen", "Unknown", ... would be important to distinguish these cases, complemented it with already existing quality indicator (https://vocab.ices.dk/?codetypeguid=e08ec685-61f6-4ccb-9e93-594047b05797)

We discussed this, but the main point is to agree on how many fields should have a 'quality' field like the SAsourceTotalWeight. Adding SAsourceTotalWeight could open for many other 'quality' fields for many measured fields. Since there are different sources for the different fields; TotalWeight, area, metier, etc. there could be one data source field for the combined fields with codes like: Logbook data, according sampler, observer, self-sampling, mixed sources.
Several quality fields have been added in updated data model the e.g. 'Total Weight Measured data basis'/'SAtotalWeightMeasuredDataBasis', but also 'Geographical data basis' and 'Geographical Source' (discussion starting point: area) together with 'Gear data basis' and 'Gear Source' (discussion starting point: metier) have been added in FO, LE and SA. Also the 'data basis' for several fields have also been added e.g. for 'Fishing duration data basis' (FO), 'Total time data basis' and 'Total number species data basis' (SS) and 'Data basis of statistical rectangle' (CL, CE). The code types was also been revised, where estimated and official was taken out of the codes for source of stat. rect, which was used as a starting point for the new code type 'Source of data'. Which now is used generally across several source-fields.
