On which OS was this tested? since * not creates any list, the other works.

note: look at https://github.com/ngs/draft-js-markdown-shortcuts-plugin, they have implemented a similar functionality. this issue works there.

@aight8 I’ve only tested it on macOS/OSX and it works fine for me in all modern browser I have. Is there are particular browser combination that’s not working for you?
