@aight8 This is actually sort of an intentional behaviour at the moment.

There are legitimate reasons to want to being an block with a Markdown list character without wanting it converted to a list, and so this plugin only converts them as lists are started from scratch. The draft-js-markdown-shortcuts-plugin approach is different: they check the entire line when an input is typed to convert. That’ll catch the use case you’re after, but it doesn’t give the same flexibility.
