I changed my password and had to remove and add back my Nest Protect integration which caused the issue I describe here. However, I believe this would be the same even for a first time user.
I have 6 protects and they are named <name of room + " Protect"> in the Nest app. When the devices are created, the device retains that name however all the entities follow the "Nest Protect (name of room) + sensor name" - for example: Nest Protect (Master Bedroom) CO Status.
To avoid renaming every single entity, I have to rename the device to "Nest Protect (name of room)" so it matches the entities, and then back to my preferred format. This automatically renames all the entities as well.
If the entity naming is preferred for some reason, then it would be handier for the device name to follow the same format as I imagine lots of people will potentially be stuck with renaming all the entities manually unless they know this little trick.
