Description

I use waybar. When I hover over modules, they often show a tooltip. Very often (most of the time), this tooltip flickers. See the video below.

How to reproduce

  1. Install waybar and use e.g. the calendar module.
  2. Hover over it and see if the tooltip flickers.
  3. If not, try to play around a bit (open a few windows, switch workspace, open special workspace, hover multiple times over module) and see if it flickers at some point.

This issue would be better posted in the Waybar's issue tracker rather than Hyprland's.

looks to me like a potential hyprland issue. Does it happen on sway or kwin?

It is a Hyprland issue, it doesn't happen on river. (river is wlroots based in case that's relevant)

This was likely a hyprland issue but I can't reproduce it since maybe a week ago, recent commits fixed it for me.

Sorry, didn't know it actually was Hyprland related, I couldn't reproduce the error either, so I just assumed it was an error within your Waybar configuration.

Please review the bug after updating to the latest hyprland git version if possible. Ideally any git build newer than 5 days ago will work. It was suspected to do with incorrect tooltip coordinate or layer getting confused with rendering it on a specific layer, but I cannot reproduce this anymore.

I would like to avoid building it myself so I'll wait for the next release and then update you here.
