Adding IP Address + automatic reconnect

Hi,

I believe we should add IP address support to the HTTP Toolkit in the app. Sometimes my phone can’t scan the QR code, probably because the camera quality is poor or qr scanner isn't that good.

Also, if possible, could we add an automatic reconnect feature? I don’t want to have to open the app just to reconnect again.

Hmm, the problem is that the QR code is not just one IP (most devices have multiple, and then there's cases like emulator host IPs to include as well). We filter this down as much as we can, but it's still a fair bit of data. And we also need to include the certificate fingerprint as well, to set up certificate trust, and then some metadata about protocol support to handle things like SOCKS vs HTTP proxying etc, with more to come there.

For now, I've just updated the QR code generator library to tweak a few settings and make it bigger & crisper. Should work more reliably now! Give it a go and let me know.

Regarding automatic reconnect, I'm not sure when you mean. When would the app reconnect? There's already a one click reconnect button that should work, or scanning the code again should work with no other setup, I don't know how much more automatic this could be without using an actual connection to automate things on the device (i.e. ADB).

Thanks for updating the QR library. Sometimes, if I don’t have a camera—for example, when I’m using a weird emulator that doesn’t have ADB, this input box would come in handy.

Automatic reconnect means that if I restart the HTTP Toolkit desktop app, probably due to an issue like too many requests, the mobile HTTP Toolkit app doesn’t reconnect automatically. I have to switch to HTTP Toolkit on my phone and press Reconnect.

It's not a short or simple input, so the current structure isn't really typeable, but maybe there's a "copy to clipboard" -> "paste" workflow that's practical.

You'd then either paste the code into a browser on the device (easy) or we could add a "paste code" button in HTTP Toolkit, but that would be weird & confusing on a physical device since you can't really copy across from your computer there...

What emulator are you using specifically? Maybe we can detect this more proactively in that case, to show the button only when it's relevant, or we can use some other connection mechanism into the emulator somehow.

If you're using QR code though, it doesn't automatically disconnect. It can't remotely control the device at all because there's no ADB connection. If you restart HTTP Toolkit on your computer then the phone will stay connected (although connections will fail in the meantime).

I think pasting workflow is also fine.

No idea it is some old school emulator, probably some proprietary software.

Does this mean app won't be able to access the internet till httptoolkit gets connected? Then I would say this behavior is good. And once httptoolkit or wifi is back, i don't have to press reconnect.
