This includes the wrapping of the chosen chess playing engine, which we are so far targeting to be Stockfish

I have made a Python wrapper for Stockfish. It is in my GitHub site. Perhaps it serves as starting point. Key point is where the Stockfish binaries run. Can it run on K9 hardware?
Another option is to "Put a Linux-based chess app on the cloud with Bluemix and IBM Containers"

Maris, looks good, yes I already have Stockfish running on the Pi (also with a Python wrapper) but I haven't done much else. Blog post here: http://k9-build.blogspot.co.uk/2016/12/stockfish.html
