I search for people who are willing to translate KochMorse from english to other languages. I have French, Spanish, Russian etc. in mind, but I will not reject any other language. A german translation is checked into the source tree. Being a platform independent application, KochMorse relies on the Qt Linguist tools.

The source tree contains several translation templates (e.g., under "shared/kochmorse_ru.ts" for the Russian language). Just clone the project or simply download the template and use Qt Linguist for the translation work. Currently there are about 100 strings to be translated. Many, however, are very simple like "speed" or "volume" and none exceeds a single sentence. Send me your modified .ts file via a pull request or simply by mail. If you like, I will mention you on the about page.

Thank you very much in advance.

Planned/completed translations:

  • German -- Completed by @hmatuschek
  • Spanish -- Completed by @HoracioDos
  • Portuguese -- Not started yet.
  • French -- Completed by @arxcdr
  • Italian -- Not started yet.
  • Russian -- Not started yet.

Hello!
I can translate to spanish but it won't be perfect because many words don't have a direct translation and they sound awful. So we usually use terms in english directly. For example jitter can be translated as fase fluctuation, vibrations, nervous, noise. The first is the correct one but no one will recognize it. Perhaps we can try both terms, like "Jitter - Fluctuación de fase"

Thank you very much!

You do not need to provide an exact translation of the strings. It is only necessary to maintain meaning of the option. "Jitter" for example is only a description of what the effect does not what it means. I translated "Jitter" in German to "Stil" meaning "style". This option enables certain keying jitters for simulating keying "styles" using a bug or straight key. You could also translate it with "key type".

Feel free to ask me what any string means.

Good to know! Translation will be best inside kochmorse context. As you said, Jitter could be as simple as "Estilo" = Style. If I need to ask you something, what's your preferred method?

I think the best way is to keep it in this thread. If there are others that are willing to translate, it might be a good resource for them.

I think the same. It will be very helpful for everybody if we can check how each other understands and translates terms.

I can help you out with the French localization. I was looking for something I could contribute to for Hacktoberfest 2018 and this looks perfect!

OK I completed the full French template this morning. If there's more text that needs to be localized in other files, just let me know and I'll take a look!

Spanish translation is completed and it's aligned to the french translation. As spanish and french are quite similar it was quite easy to check terms between them.

Sorry for my late reply. I had to prepare a lot of lectures the last two weeks.
Thank you very much. I'll include them in the next release. I'll add a "contributors" page to the "about" dialog. Under which name should I add you both?

@HoracioDos: I will now merge your Spanish translation into the source code. There is a second pull request by @benocd for a Spanish translation. Could you verify that one too?

Hello
I will check it this weekend. I'll try to be the most objective I can.
Thank you for adding us as contributors. @HoracioDos is enough for me.

Dear translators, in particular @HoracioDos and @arxcdr. I am preparing the release of the next Kochmorse version (3.5.0). It would be great if you could update your translations. I have committed updated .ts files in master.

Hi & Sorry about the delay. I'm completely buried in work at the moment with the holidays coming up, I'll take care of this as soon as I can find a minute.

Hello.
I've made a few changes but I didn't find any new keywords. This is the new version. I didn't want to do a pull request.

Hello,
Thanks, I've merged your changes into the repository. However, there are some missing translations left. Maybe I've forgot to update the Spanish ts file.

Hi, sorry again about the delay - I've finally been able to add the translation for the new content. The fork I have is completely outdated so watch out when merging, I've only replaced the one file containing the French translation.

Thanks & Happy New Year!

Hello! I can help with Chinese (Simplified) translation, and it's already at a progress of ~60%. I think I will send the ts file to u via mail in 1 week or 2.
Also, I noticed that there's some translation that seem to be unused (trans whose entry are grayed out and has no src code preview in Linguist), what should I do about it?
