Menu duplication when used in multiple stories

I have several types of buttons, i.e., a nav button and an interaction button. I'd like to put them in a button category, but it doesn't seem to work as expected. With /, you can create subfolders for your variants of one component, but when applying this strategy to multiple components, they create new navigation items. How can I resolve this?
