I can open the plugin's dialog from the Plugins menu, but after that, any interaction will cause QGIS to instantly disappear from my screen, triggering a crash report a few seconds later.

This is on a MacBook Pro with M1 CPU and I wouldn't be surprised if this is a factor in the issue.

Same but I’m on an Intel iMac, Catalina, QGIS 3.20

I'm having the same issue, on:

• MacBook Pro (Intel + AMD GPU, activated for rendering on QGIS)
• 16GB RAM
• 2 GB VRAM (AMD R9 M370X)
• macOS BigSur 11.5.2 (20G95)
• QGIS 3.16.8-Hannover
• SRTM v3.1.15

...but in my case, the plugin works perfectly when downloading a few data sets, less than 18 for example.
When I try do download a large dataset for a big region that I set through canvas region, like more than 50 regions at one time, it asks for the credentials, I approved it, than it crashes.

I tried leaving the files on temporary folder and also indicating a folder to save it.

Both ways, SRTM makes QGIS crash. No error reported.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Mac for testing. Maybe someone else is able to test and to fix.
