I was looking for a way to smooth out the scrolling. Right now, my Pi 3B 1.2 is driving a 1920x1020 display and the ticker is stuttering as it scrolls.

Any suggestions?

It's pretty resource intensive. You can try disabling other modules. I had to disable the one that changes the background picture to allow enough resources to scroll smoothly on mine.
