Sites are not blocked by Parental Control or Blocked Services

I have installed the add-on in Home Assistant. I used the installation guide (which basically says 'install', "start") and it is running without errors. When I point my DNS settings in my router to the HA IP address the logs show that DNS requests are being handled. So far, so good.

The issue is that in both cases enabling Parental Control Web Service or Blocked services don't have any effect.
Blocking services such as Youtube, Spotify or Soundcloud do not prevent me from using those websites/apps (there are some entries in the Query Log though) and well known adult sites are also not blocked.

Other discussions I read are mostly about false positives, so no help there.
I tried the AdGuard Home docker instance and its does the same. I feel like I am missing something (in both configs), but I have no clue what it is.

I installed AGH on a new linux VM with a dedicated IP address. Same result.

Ok. I finally figured it out and it turns out it wasn't the installation of AGH or the router. It was me.
I was too impatient and not aware of how DNS functions.

1. I expected results right away (because I saw DNS requests come in immediately), but didn't give the clients time to change their DNS servers.
2. I thought that if the clients DNS was the router and the routers DNS server was AGH, DNS requests would be redirected to AGH but that it is not the case.

So now, after updating the clients DNS server, websites and services are indeed unavailable if I block them
