Thanks for building the virt driver integration, this really looks promising, specially for OnPrem usecases.
I think that having native integration between this Nomad driver and QEMU's microvm machine type would be a killer feature.
The microvm machine type, IMHO, beats the firecracker implementation for a couple reasons:
Full integration will the plethora of options available for qemu/kvm, most of them not really available for firecracker
No need for external applications to be setup other than qemu and kvm
It is really fast
Qemu + KVM are battle tested and largely used across the industry
Keeping the same UX as containers but running directly on microvms is possible (being doing this in my homelab) and I think it would provide a lot of value for Nomad as a platform.
