It seems that this project should not be in the main grails core public repo as a SNAPSHOT?

https://repo.grails.org/grails/core/org/grails/plugins/dropwizard-metrics/1.0.0.BUILD-SNAPSHOT/

Additionally, when projects consume this, and try to do a release, the release process in many cases will fail when there is a SNAPSHOT dependency.

Please make a 1.0.0 release.

Why not? That is where we generally publish snapshots.

This project seems to be dead.

@EarthCitizen This project is not dead. It just hadn't been prioritized, but will be moving forward for release soon. It is not dead.

@jeffbrown I could be mistaken, but I believe core public repo is for release versions. But glad to hear this project is not dead. Unfortunately though, we had to remove our dependency on ths project due to the fact that in our org we have a strict policy against snapshot versions in releases. But looks like with the new M2 release we will be able to put it back.

That isn't the case. We routinely publish our snapshots to the core public repo.
