Meanwhile, does it work to git checkout <branch> && gh pr create manually as a workaround? GitButler should pick that up then.

When doing this, let's be sure we can also open them as draft. Maybe that should be the default even?

git checkout <branch> && gh pr create I don't see this as workaround since but pr new already expose the generated url and I already have some bindings (terminal/tmux) to open links.

my use case for but pr open is mainly if I I have multiple branches with pr created and I wanna quickly revisit each/one of them.

I think the mistake originated in me marking the draft issue as duplicate of this one, which it is not.
