Import of related files

The RSS-feed (XML) delivers images and file attachments inside of an -Tag, they are distinguished by the "type"-attribute. The -file is always imported as an image even if its type is "application/pdf". Therefore importing file attachments from a feed content don't seem to be possible, or am I missing something?
Also the import only gets one of the media files even if there are multiple images (or file attachments). Is there a way to import multiple files per news-entry?

I would try to charge the sponsoring costs to the customer who needs these features. Could you give me a rough estimate how much that would make so that I can ask for the additional cost?
