With a GIF-based screen recording like VHS, users will not be taken to another website (asciinema.org in this case). That is compounded by the fact that GitHub always opens links in the same tab and there is no way to change that. Even if you somehow insert a target="_blank" attribute for your link, GitHub will remove that when it renders the README.md.

As long as video is of the same high quality.
