<p>The members involved in the GEMOC initiative gather complementary expertise from software (programming and modeling) languages, software language engineering, models of computation (including time and communication issues), model driven engineering (MDE), and software validation & verification (V&V) and Testing.</p>
<h3>Why join the GEMOC initiative?</h3>
<p>The GEMOC initiative is open to anyone who wants to collaborate on the topic of the globalization of modeling languages. Joining the initiative allows you to share, discuss, exchange ideas and collaborate with other members, use the research framework offered by the initiative (mailing lists, model/code repositories, continuous integration, integrated studio…). The GEMOC initiative plays the role of community starter, and helps make visible the research and development work conducted by its members.</p>
<h3>How to join the GEMOC initiative?</h3>
<p>Easy! Just subscribe to the general <a href="https://sympa.inria.fr/sympa/info/gemoc-initiative">mailing list</a>. By joining the GEMOC initiative, you also agree to appear on the public <a href="#">member directory</a> of the GEMOC initiative. You can use the appropriate <a href="http://gemoc.org/logo/artwork-src/gemoc-member/gemoc-logo-member.jpg">logo for members</a>, and help us promoting the initiative.</p>

<p>The governance of the GEMOC initiative is ensured by the Advisory Board. The role of the Advisory Board is to coordinate the GEMOC work and to ensure proper dissemination of work products and information about GEMOC events (e.g., meetings, workshops).</p>

The coordination responsibilities of the Advisory Board include the following:
<ul>
<li>Define the scope of the initiative in terms of criteria that determine the scope of GEMOC work.</li>
<li>Evaluate new GEMOC member applications. The scope criteria are used to determine the suitability of candidate members and projects for their inclusion in GEMOC.</li>
<li>Provide guidelines for the development of an integrated framework and related issues (e.g., license, technologies, IP).</li>
<li>Provide guidelines for packaging case studies in the REMODD repository.</li>
<li>Annually gather and summarize reports on the progress of projects.</li>
<li>Manage the tools that will be used for the coordination (e.g., mailing list on gforge, discussion group on REMODD)</li>

The dissemination responsibilities of the Advisory Board include the following:
<ul>
<li>Prepare, disseminate, and evolve official descriptions of the initiative.</li>
<li>Prepare and submit applications for holding new GEMOC events, and assist in their organization.</li>
<li>Manage an open repository for disseminating case studies (via REMODD).</li>
<li>Manage an open source code management (via Github).</li>
<li>Manage the GEMOC website, including ensuring timely dissemination of related information (e.g., publication, seminar, invited talks)</li>
<li>Evaluate the readiness of GEMOC products for public dissemination and ensure timely dissemination of quality products.</li>
</ul>
The advisory board acts also as steering committee of the GEMOC workshop series, an annual workshop on the topics of the initiative in conjunction with the international MODELS conference. Each open workshop will be followed by an annual meeting of the advisory board, and after by a dinner with all the members of the initiative in which all the coordination and dissemination issues are reported. Other opportunistic meetings would also be organized over the year (e.g., co-located with ICSE).
