What does this mean? Decided to knob about with Sudoku as a natural progression from Chess, using a GUI to skin a library (really like that pattern, especially as a way to get-to-know a GUI API). I Purchased the book, so is this the same as the manual steps covered in that; and should it be / do you want it to be open source when?

Consider:

  • You don't own the platforms, so their instructions will form a rot that you need to maintain in tandem with official docs and external product decisions.
  • It's in a book people can buy for cheap and get a snapshot in time view of what was required.

The idea is that within Defyne people can initiate distribution of their apps.
I guess that means covering, in an automated workflow or settings somewhere:

  • App data
  • Cross compiling
  • Certificate management
  • Uploading to stores etc

All this, like everything Fyne, will be completely open source :)

There is now another solution - the Geoffrey product.
It's a SaaS solution rather than an open source management tool, but it could help...

The price seems quite up there if it's only building. Does it manage app signing and store publishing?

It is:

  • Building
  • Packaging for any number of OS
  • Self-update
  • Certification
  • Distribution (ad-hoc download or QR code at this time)

Store publishing is to come later.

I have used it quite a bit and it is a very helpful tool.
