Creating or editting a Linkit field with entry fills selection label with array of chosen sections

Craft CMS version: 3.4.26
Linkit version: 1.1.11

When i edit or create a new linkit field, on save, the selection label gets filled with an array string of the selected sections.
Which results in an error on the edit entry page:
Return value of fruitstudios\linkit\base\ElementLink::getSelectionLabel() must be of the type string, array returned

The array string is visible in the selection label field when editting the field.
