I've got a fork where I've added Mac support to this, but I just realised that I don't know what licence it's under and I don't know if I should be (can be?) modifying the code as I like. If you can clarify the licence, I'll happily put in a PR for mac support :)

I have honestly never thought about licencing. People can do what they want with it. I'm not sure what licence that makes it or what license I even CAN put on it, since I'm using a handfull of third party libraries. I'll have to dig into that.
So far I had mac explicitly excluded because I have no way of making sure that it works. I went through some trouble ensuring that multiprocessing works under windows.
If you can confirm that the script executes and updates your addons successfully, I would be happy about your PR!
I think most Python libraries are MIT licenced, though I'd double check. MIT is generally a good bet for this kind of thing. I'll throw the PR in now then. I've been developing on Mac and I can confirm that it installed fine (It's basically the same as Linux file system wise anyway)
