shfmt has no bins currently for Apple silicon but I suspect it would make sense those bins would be darwin_arm64 instead of darwin_arm which is what the extensions is attempting to download now.

Apple silicon bins are being tracked here mvdan/sh#642

Current workaround is to download the amd64 build, and use the hellformat.path option
