@lukeheath do you know if this a bug? I thought we had a story/bug to bump the size limitation?

@noahtalerman No, the file upload limit is set at 500 MB. The previous bug we worked on was increasing the upload timeout (#20309) but we didn't increase the file upload limit. Things like Creative Cloud are multiple GB.

Thanks Luke!

the file upload limit is set at 500 MB

@georgekarrv are we bumping this as part of "Fleet-maintained apps"? (#18865)

I'm assuming some of our 20 apps are more that 500 MB.

Hey @roperzh, just giving you a ping! here b/c I'm chatting w/ @marko-lisica and he's saying y'all had this conversation about this.

Do you know?

We're bumping the file size limit to 3GB as part of this story: #20308

Ty marko, couldn't find where that was but was going to say the FMA ticket doesn't handle 'uploads' at all so it wasn't going to address it.

For reference, MS Office is over 2GB, as well.

The plan is to bump it to 3GB as part of this story (targeted for 4.58).

I filed an unreleased bug here: #22704

@noahtalerman what we discussed for Fleet maintained apps is to not enforce any limits when we download the app from the link in homebrew. This is because these apps are curated by Fleet.

Does that make sense?

@roperzh ah ok! We still enforce a 500MB limit custom packages right?

I think the plan is to bump the limit to 3GB for custom packages.

@noahtalerman I think you're right and the idea was to do it as part of the ticket you linked. What we discussed for Fleet maintained apps with Marko was unrelated to this.

Hey @pintomi1989 heads up that we bumped the upload size limit to 3GB as part of this user story (shipped in 4.58).

Removing this request from the feature fest board.

Problem

I want to upload Creative Cloud, but I cannot because it is 1.5GB in size, and the current upload limit for installers is 400MB. I have other pieces of software to upload that are around 2GB in size, and will also fail.

What have you tried?

N/A, hard limitation

Potential solutions

Adjust the upload limitations, to make upload size a customizable environment variable. 2GB may suffice for now, but in the future it could potentially block larger installers.

What is the expected workflow as a result of your proposal?

Upload an installer to Fleet, when the installer is up to roughly 2GB in size
